Sickle Blades
Bandia or Boa Culture, Democratic Republic of Congo
Steel and Wood, Steel Copper and Wood
32.25" H and 35" H

Both blades are polished on one side to reveal the superb incising which was patiently executed with care and skill by an experienced craftsman.  Traditionally, the blade's handles are replaced as needed.

The blade on the right, with the gentle curve, is of heavy metal stock, with a thick rib on the reverse.  It is in good condition with a wound copper handle, most likely a replacement.  $1200

The blade on the left has had much use, is made of lighter stock and has a broader blade. The handle has a rich, old patina and is cracked from age. SOLD
