Currency, Cameroon

Upper Benue River, Cameroon, North Eastern Nigeria
17″ (43.1 cm) high by 7.5″ (19 cm) wide
Late 19th to early 20th century

A very graceful and unusual blade currency with indentations on half of the curve. Two ribs run nearly the length of the piece, providing an additional element of the design, which is reminiscent of a fiddlehead fern or question mark.
