Noh Mask, Bali

Wood, Paint
Early 20th Century
8″ H x 6″ W x 4″ D

This is an unusual piece in that the mask is the old man character from Japanese Noh theatre yet has the characteristics of an Indonesian mask. It is not unusual for Indonesian artists to train in Japan. This piece has the heft and thickness of an Indonesian mask in contrast to the thinner Japanese masks. Some restoration.
