A nice old heddle pulley from the Guro people of the Cote d’Ivoire with ritual scarification on the cheeks and an ever so slight smile. The eyes are faint slits and the ears rest high on the sides of the head, which is capped by a crown or headdress with a triangular motif. There is a suspension hole at the top of the hair-do and another horizontal hole at the back of the head.
