This large rare forged iron throwing knife form of currency is the highest denomination of exchange in a complex system of central African metal currencies. These currency forms were used as payment for everything from marriage and litigation to war ransoms and slaves. Previously in the collection of Cathryn Cootner, ex- Andres Moraga Gallery.
