Old African Hide Shield
Arussi, Ethiopia
19th to 20th Century
Average Diameter: 26” (66cm) Depth: 6” (15.2cm)
When starving Ethiopians first brought these out of Africa for sale a few decades ago, they were thought to have been made and used by the old-culture Gurage people/tribe. Now most Africanists name their origin as from the Arussi people.
