Ex Ted Cohen collection, Oakland CA

A complete pair of armbands worn by women of the Tinguian or Itneg cultural minority group, who live in the western Cordillera of Luzon, in the mountains of Abra. They are attached to arm forms made of straw and bamboo stuffed cotton. They do not stand securely unsupported, as they appear in the photo. It is likely that several strands have been broken and retied over the years, but there are no loose beads at present.
