Another excellent example of artistic design incorporating classic Navajo auspicious beliefs. Turquoise is a symbol for water and life. The turquoise cabochon is centered between the four sacred mountains which are connected by the eight sacred beings, four female and four male. Loosely this translates to a wish or intention for a happy life by the balance of male and female forces in harmony within the four pillars of community. As with any belief system, there are many individual interpretations of Navajo sacred beliefs.
