Made by monks and lay practitioners, the torma were offered to protective deities believed to defend the Buddhist teachings. Adorned with imagery of tantric offerings: sacred animals, flaming sword of wisdom, cemetery scenes, inverted skull cup brimming with offerings of the five nectars/sense organs, flaying knife, charnel ground animal skins, and birds, bell and dorje.
